Artist's Statement:
I'm interested in the in-between and what lies behind the eyes. My work explores internal sensations and how they coincide with emotional experiences. I'm curious about what those ambiguous physical feelings could look like, what their shape might be, the color, the edge, the movement. . . For much of my life I've experienced psychosomatic responses to intense emotions and external cues. I've worked to close my eyes, and let the sensation unfold, then take an invisible finger and run it along what I can't see from the outside.
Some pieces reflect on new or buried fuzzy, physical memories, while others act as studies, revisiting to try and define, look to the crevices. Some of these studies are attempts to translate what the voice of the amorphous thing could be into color, movement. Sometimes the 'thing' does not require a name, and sometimes it wants one.
